A request for a speaker was coordinated with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, under the leadership of Chairperson Mayor Roseller H. Rizal, regarding a seminar on Gender-Fair Language for employees of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC), Branch 2 & 3. The seminar was held last November 30- December 02, 2024, at Margaret’s Beach Resort in Cabangan, Zambales.
Ms. Jasmin P. Siman, the GAD Supervising Administrative Officer (GAD-SAO), served as the keynote speaker. She delivered an engaging and insightful discussion on the importance of using gender-fair language to promote inclusivity and equality in both professional and personal communication. Ms. Siman emphasized that gender-fair language is essential for ensuring that all individuals are treated equally under the law. She also highlighted the crucial role of inclusive language in fostering fairness and impartiality within the judicial system, stressing that communication-whether in court proceedings, official documents, or workplace interactions-should not reinforce gender stereotypes.
The discussion helps empower participants to integrate gender-fair practices into their work, contributing to a legal system that upholds equity, fairness, and respect for all. The seminar represents a foundational step in transforming how the judiciary communicates, ensuring a legal system that is not only impartial but also genuinely inclusive.
